NYM is the standard German installation cable: PVC jacket, solid conductors, commonly 3×1.5 and 5×2.5. NYY is a power cable with a thicker jacket for service entries and outdoor use. H07RN-F is a rubber-sheathed flexible cable for portable equipment.
PUR jackets resist abrasion and oil and are common on sensor/actuator cables, drag chains and robots. Tougher than PVC, they make blades skate—use a tool with self-adjusting grip and a sharp, depth-controlled blade. Solar cable is double-insulated: a thick outer jacket over a soft inner layer, where nicking the tinned copper is the real risk.
Quick method: read the print legend (NYM-J, NYY-J, H07RN-F, PV1-F…), measure the outer diameter and check whether it is shielded. Send those three facts to your supplier and the model is usually obvious.
